This painting was a private commission for an individual who had wanted to purchase my older Dryad painting. Unfortunately for him, that painting had sold years ago. Instead, I offered to paint a new version of the same idea. The customer wasn't really sure what sort of pose he wanted, so I did these three quick sketches. He did know some of the details he wanted to have incorporated, though. In addition to the dryad herself, he also wanted plaques and flower garlands or wreathes.

The gentleman picked his favorite and I did a more detailed version of it.

I then transfered the bare lines unto the final board. Below is the cleaned up version (plus a little masking fluid).

I then started painting. Every two to three weeks, I did another set of digital photos in order to keep the customer updated on my progress. I didn't really take the time to color correct the photos, so these are all little off.

Here most of the masking fluid has been removed and I started working on the skin.

This is very close to the finished painting. The customer asked me to change a few small details and the forground is not complete.

The final painting, scanned and color corrected as much as I could. For some reason, the skin tones look better in the photos than they do the scan.
